8 years of mariage

We celebrated eight years on Tuesday, 24th of August and I have to say it was a very special celebration. Sebastian booked us for lunch at Chinese’ restaurant which I craved for, than surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of my favorite flowers and on top took me to Ikea to Austria (also my dream store to go to). We all had so much fun being together and Patrik did so well the whole day. I’m proud of my man and so glad to be married to him. We both would agree we have a beautiful marriage because we invited Jesus into it and He has been our strength, wisdom, joy and the best tutor in all those eight years. I’m excited for the next eight with Sebastian. Marriage is a beautiful thing!!!

At the end of a perfect day this was on my dinning table left as a reminder of our fun aniversary celebration.

And a close up of our family picture from our time at Ikea. We are on the front cover of the magazine. I had to frame the photo right away to keep it away from Patrik’s touch. He comes to it every day and points at the mouse on the table. Hmmm. That was his favourite memory of his time at Ikea. But for me it’s a reminder of a great celebration and time with my precious family.

A short update

August has been a busy month for us : 5 family birthdays (Sebastian, my mother-in-law, my sister and brother both and my brother’s girlfriend all have their birthdays in August) my cousins wedding, a week long kids camp in Porec and so much needed further work on our house. My pregnancy is going well. I’m 6 months pregnant now and thankfully still able to do much around the house and ministry. I’m so excited these days that we finally got around sorting the house for our new baby boy’s arrival. But we are not even near yet. Sebastian has been working hard, his mum came as well to help and we had a teenage boy help us for the last two days. My job is to look after Patrik, cook for the ‘workers’ 3 meals + give them snacks, answer phone calls and do shopping. Patrik is asleep at the moment, the soup is on the stove cooking by itself and I thought to myself I better update you all on our lives. Oh, forgot to mention that we have a guest coming this afternoon from Netherlands. I’ll give him a tour around Lake Bled and our town today and take him to the airport tomorrow morning. Sebastian is eager to finish our stairway today because he has two concerts to do the sound for this weekend and on Monday he will take a group of boys to go camping for couple of days. Ok, I think this is enough for now. Here are a few photos of the weeding. Enjoy!

My girl cousin Ines asked Katka and I to sing a song for them at the wedding. She is our favourite cousin, we love her dearly and saying No was not even an option despite the fact we didn’t have time to practice (we both did different camps before the weeding and didn’t see each other until the day we left for the wedding) The car ride war 4 hours long and we had a blast practicing while our husbands set in front seats and paid attention to the road. To finish the story, we did really well ( so they said and moth inportant our husbands as well)

Not everyone has this priviledge; I guess

I loved getting all your birthday wishes!! So THANKS to all of you who wrote to me and made me feel special and loved! For the last eight years I celebrated my B-day at camp and each year I am surrounded with different people and we do different things for my birthday. I guess this is special and not everyone has this priviledge.

This year we had camp in our own town and I got to celebrate at home. It’s crazy to think I had over 30 people at my house yesterday – americans, Irish and Slovene friends- celebrating with me. What a priviledge. I thank the Lord for placing so many wonderful people into my life; people who truly care, love and support me. I am blessed with friends and I was more aware of it this year than ever. Gloria

happy birthday gloria

I’m holding a huge cake that was a surprise from my husband. I didn’t expect him to do anything special since he was leaading a camp, american helpers and looking after another Irish team that arrived a day before. Yet he still thought of me and my love for chocolate cake. It was a great surprise. My firend Metka made a baner for me. I think everyone had fun.

Now it’s time to do another camp. It begins tomorrow. After the camp we will take two days off for a family vacation and that back to work; a week of theological training and a week of kids camp.

Still around :)

Hey friends, we are still around. It’s just a busy time for us at the minute. Our family is doing well. I am enjoying my pregnancy. We are so excited to have this second child. At my last doctor’s appointment she wrote in my book that the baby was very active. Exciting!?! Patrik is all the time on the go and with #2 being the same I might just end up drinking lots of coffee next year :) . The gender is still unknown but I look forward to finding out in few weeks.

We had a great time last week at the coast with our church. 7 people got baptized and we had a great yummy picnic food. It was definitively the highlight of our week.

This week a team from the States arrived to help us with our first camp that will start this coming Sunday, 4th of July. We look forward to camp and all the young people that have signed-up. All of them are new contacts and it will be fun to get to know them and hopefully build long-term friendship.

We also have two girls from the States living with us. It has been really fun to have them here and very helpful. The girls help me around the house and play with Patrik when they are not busy doing other thing with youth.

For now this will be all.
Keep us in your prayers please and all those new precious young people we will meet this summer. I really would love to see God touch their lives in powerful ways.

This year’s camp theme is : Redeeme!!

5 things Patrik enjoys at 14 months:

- Reading books (looking at the pictures of animals and making strange noises) pretty sweet!

- going somewhere! It doesn’t really matter where, as long as we GO! As soon as I say ‘Let’s go’ he hands me his shoes and points to the door.

- running! This kid doesn’t know how to walk … he is on the run all the time and yes, he falls often, picks himself up and continues his way. What that means for me? Let’s just put it this way; I learned to run after him and talk to people at the same time!

- Stuffed animals! He got that from his daddy. I certainly wasn’t and still am not a big fan of stuffed animals. Yet Patrik carries his animals around all the time. He sleeps with them, eats with them, plays with them and … I’m thankful for all the stuffed animals we own! Keeps him entertained for a while.

- People! There are so many things Patrik enjoys and I wanted to narrow it down to 5 points :) I was choosing between food and people! Let’s just say he loves people that give him food. He would eat anything from anyone. I love it that he is not afraid of people and does so well with other people baby-sitting him. And he is just learning to use his spoon and a fork. Pretty wild to think that my baby is growing up!

Warned you he can’t stay still for a minute. Almost impossible to take a picture of him. But I love this one. It is so him! I would sit him down on the chair and by the time I get my camera, he already tries to climb down the chair.

That’s the face he does when he has enough of photo shooting :) But I think what he really wants is for me to chase his around with camera. He thinks it a kind of a games.

Global day of prayer … Sunday, 23 of May

An amazing Sunday! Different churches across Slovenia got together for a worship service to sing and pray together (a miracle). It has been the first time for our churches to organize an event like this and get together as brothers and sisters in Christ. We were both involved with the program for the day. Churches in Slovenia are small communities of believers (average 25 people) and it has been amazing to worship together with over 200 Slovenes, singing in Slovene language to Jesus and praying for our nation. Oh, I don’t know what else to say, the Spirit was moving! We were all encouraged in the Lord.

Gloria led worship at the service with a group of wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ. Young people from our town were there as well and it has been the first time for them in such big group of believers. They all loved it. Something moved in their hearts as well.

O Lord, heal our nation!

Patrik will soon be BIG BROTHER

Gloria is 13 weeks pregnant ( 3 months) and we are happy to announce that Patrik will soon have company. The due date is November 24 which is thanksgiving day. Yes, we are very thankful for this child!! Gloria feels a lot better than she felt for the first two months. We will keep you up-to-date with this pregnancy. But for now we ask for your prayers that all goes well.

The wether here is getting better and we took time on Monday to go to famous lake Bled (only 3km away from us) to feed the ducks. Patrik loved it and I think we will have to do it again soon. The lake is absolutely beautiful.

It couldn’t be any better…. and I mean it.

It has been so long since I last had only girls at my house. I really missed ‘girls’ talks’ and decided it would be nice to call girls and spend a night with them. We had a blast. Our evening began with a game ‘apples to apples’ which is an excellent game to start an evening with. We laughed, eat food and drank warm cut of tea. After the game Metka shared few thoughts from the Bible and her life. The conversation was so good we didn’t stop talking until late at night. It was midnight when the girls left my house and I felt so encouraged by our time together and really thankful for our friendship. I pray for those girls every day that God would consume all their hearts and that they would have hearts after God’s own, as he intended them to have. Precious girls, God loves you and so do I. :)

1st May fellowship time

In Slovenia in every village they make a big bonfire on the 1st of May. It is a party for everyone. So we decided that we should make one as well at our house. Because we have some trees we made a big bonefire in the backyard of our house. It was great. We put sausages on wooden stick and nicely grill it. Wow what a night.

Coming back from ECM conference

On Sunday we came back home from ECM conference that was held in Spain. The theme was Our God reigns. We were very encouraged and reminded again what a great God we have. We’ve decided to go there with our car. It was great to see north Italy, south France and south SpainĀ  – God created world so amazing. Well we did 4000km (2400 miles) altogether safely – praise goes to our Lord.
